All ELA standards are building on what students have previously learned. Please make sure that students are reading nightly to develop fluency and stamina with reading! Students will be able to do activities to develop reading and writing skills using iReady, MobyMax and Progress Learning!
Students will build writing stamina in the following genres: narrative writing, persuasive writing, and informative writing.
The grading percentages are as follows:
Assignments 40%
Assessments 60%
Module assessments will count as a grade.
Your child has the opportunity to retake an assessment once per assessment. The retake must occur prior to another assessment in the subject and the retake grade will not be higher than a 90 in the gradebook.
This is a BIG year in math! Everything students learn this year will set the foundation for 4th and 5th grade!

A standard for 3rd grade is that students will know all products of one-digit numbers. Please work at home to help students learn their multiplication facts 0 to 10!

We will also be completing more STEM activities in class throughout the year as MES is a STEM Certified school! Please let us know if you would be willing to send in supplies and resources for this as needed!
Science and Social Studies are taught interchangeably this year. We spend a few weeks in science and then a few weeks in social studies during the 9-weeks period.
Students will continue using Social Studies Weekly pamphlets this year! Social Studies grades will be given this year based on SS Content Knowledge.
We may be asking for students to complete various projects at home throughout the year that incorporate the skills we are learning in social studies. Thanks in advance for supporting your child’s learning at home!
