Hi there!! My name is Marie Speering, and I will be teaching 6th-grade ELA here at Harlem Middle School. This will be year 20 for me in teaching. I got my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Coker College, where I also played softball. I taught for a year in South Carolina before moving to the CSRA.
I spent my next nine years teaching in Richmond County at Meadowbrook Elementary and Langford Middle School. While there, I coached one year of softball and five years of basketball. Going from Elementary to Middle, I have learned Middle School is where I belong! After seven years at Grovetown Middle School, I was super excited to transition to Harlem Middle School. This is my third year being a Bulldog. Besides teaching ELA in the 6th grade, I coach the girls' basketball team and volleyball club.
My husband, who is a product of Columbia County, and I have been married for 14 years and have two beautiful girls, Skylar(12) and Kinsley(9).
I am a huge Clemson Tigers fan, love Harry Potter, am a sports fanatic, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends!
I hope you are ready for a great year, because I know I am!!!
