Welcome to Human Anatomy and Physiology

You will find general information posted on this webpage. Most class resources will be shared through Google Classroom. I post assignments, announcements, slides, documents, and other needed items there. Be sure to join both Remind and Google Classroom. Human Anatomy & Physiology is a lecture-laboratory based course designed to provide students with the knowledge of the structure and functions of the human body. It is truly the most relevant science course you will take because it is all about YOU! I look forward to an amazing year!

The best time of day to reach me is from 2:45 until 4:00 pm. Please know that I may be working with students after school, though, so I may respond later as well.

Students should be enrolled in Remind automatically.

Please review the course syllabus for additional information. The units of study are also provided on the syllabus.

Supplies Needed: 3-Ring Binder (with notebook paper and dividers), pencils (#2), blue/black pens, colored pencils (one pack with at least 12 different colors), highlighters, 4-pack of white board markers, composition notebook, box of latex-free gloves for dissections of mice, sheep hearts, cow eyes, sheep brains, sheep kidneys and cats. Please bring a box of latex-free gloves that fits YOUR size hands. Write your name on the box.

The following donations are greatly appreciated: Paper Towels, Kleenex and Sanitizing Wipes.

Unit 1 - Intro to Human Anatomy and Physiology - Homeostasis - Marathon Runner Case Study and Language of Anatomy (Mouse Dissection)
Unit 2 - Cell Biology and Histology
Unit 3 - Integumentary System
Unit 4 - Skeletal System and Joints
Unit 5 - Muscular System (Rat Dissection or Chicken Wing if time permits)
Unit 6 - Nervous System (Sheep Brain Dissection) (End of Semester 1)
Unit 7 - Special Senses (Cow Eye Dissection) (Second Semester if cannot fit into 1st semester)
Unit 8 - Endocrine System
Unit 9 - Cardiovascular System and Blood (Sheep Heart Dissection)
Unit 10 - Respiratory System (Sheep Pluck Dissection)
Unit 11 - Digestive System/Urinary System (Sheep Kidney Dissection)

Culminating Activity of Pig Dissection!!!

We will also study pregnancy throughout the 9 month school year. This will include a pregnancy project and optional community service volunteer efforts.

If time permits, we will complete a mini-unit on Public Health and Immunology!!!

Currently, Google is not showing a Calendar for this course even though I have a Google Classroom. I am looking into this issue to try to fix it.

Please remember that this calendar is tentative. The best resource to receive weekly up dates is the agenda posted in Google Classroom. It is hyperlinked to lots of documents as well.

If you are absent, the agenda will help a lot but also check with classmates and me. Handouts can be found in the folders for anatomy in the back of the room. Check the folder for the day you were absent.
