🌎 Latin America – 6th Grade Social Studies

In this unit, students will explore the geography, history, culture, and economies of Latin America. They’ll locate important physical features like rivers, rainforests, deserts, and countries on maps. Students will also learn about the lasting impact of African slavery, Spanish and Portuguese colonization, and how these influences shaped Latin American culture and religion.

• The Cuban Revolution and its effects on U.S.–Cuba relations

• Comparing governments in Mexico, Cuba, and Brazil

• Understanding economic systems, trade, and growth

• How geography and natural resources affect where people live and work
