IB Diploma Programme

Welcome to the Lakeside High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at Lakeside High School is an academically rigorous course of study.

Students participate in the IB Programme during their junior and senior years.

Pre-IB students in grades 9 and 10 prepare for the rigorous course work of the Diploma Programme by taking honors courses in language arts, social science, natural science, and mathematics.

Unlike other academic pathways, the IB Programme is designed to have a meta-cognitive approach to learning that helps students develop the higher-order thinking strategies needed to become lifelong independent learners. Students are expected to make connections among different academic disciplines and not to study subjects in isolation. This is based on the belief that the total educational experience is more than the sum of its parts.
