Steve Whitaker is in his twenty-third year of teaching. Previously, he served as band director at Grovetown Middle School and Bleckley County High School. Additionally, he was the assistant marching band director at Harlem High School from 2003-2007 and the assistant marching band director at Grovetown High School from 2009-2016.
Mr. Whitaker has earned degrees from the University of West Georgia (Bachelors), VanderCook College of Music (Master’s) and the University of Georgia (Specialist), all in music education. His professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, National Association for Music Education, and the Georgia Music Educators Association. Mr. Whitaker currently resides in Columbia County with his 89 Bayou four-wheeler, a boat and a motorcycle.
Mrs. Nicole Peacock is beginning her 3rd year with Grovetown High School working with the Band of Warriors Color Guard team and teaching in the Science Department. She spent the first 10 years of her teaching career in Summerville, South Carolina. In her free time, Mrs. Peacock spends time with her two children, Aaron and Edie. She likes playing video games, reading novels, knitting, and hand embroidery.
Mrs. Peacock spun flag at Greenbrier High School where she graduated in 2003. She then went on to join the Tiger Eyes at Auburn University from 2003-2006. She was a staff member of the color guard and winter guard competition teams at Summerville High School from 2016-2020. Mrs. Peacock still occasionally performs as a part of the Auburn Alumni Band and annually as a member of the Holy City Twirlers at the PRIDE Parade in Charleston, SC.
