The Band of Warriors Color Guard is the visual component of the marching band. The color guard uses a combination of marching, dance, and equipment (flags, mock rifles, sabres, etc.) to visually interpret the music the band is playing for the audience. They perform during halftime shows, pep rallies, competitions, and in the Grovetown Christmas Parade.
2024-2025 will be the inaugural year of the Grovetown Winter Guard Team! Winter Guard is a competitive indoor performance activity that is independent of the marching band. The season begins after fall marching season ends and runs until early spring. Only students who are members of the fall color guard are eligible for membership on the winter guard team. We plan on competing in the regional Carolina Winter Ensemble Association this upcoming year.
Auditions are held in April of each year and are open to any rising 9-12th grader enrolled at or zoned for Grovetown High School. Members may also be instrumentalists in the band program. As a part of the Band of Warriors, we hold ourselves to the same standards of excellence and uphold the purpose of the band as stated below.
Purpose
We believe that our students can accomplish more together than alone and more than they think they can.
Complement and strengthen the Grovetown High School Music Department.
To provide and cultivate the opportunity for expression through the performance of music and aesthetic experiences.
Present to educational authorities the value of development and experience gained through the band as an important aspect of education.
Develop the group as a cornerstone for building strong relations and educational ventures between the community, student, faculty and administration.
Support Columbia County activities and promote school and community spirit.
