Periods: 1st, 3rd, 6th & 7th
Overview & Purpose
Graphic design focuses on visually communicating a message. Each project a graphic designer undertakes will have a unique message and a desired result, such as providing information, invoking thought, selling a product, or stimulating meaningful conversation. Graphic design is all around you, involving visual storytelling to express an idea effectively. This requires problem-solving, communication, attentiveness, patience, and a solid understanding of the project’s desired outcome.
Education Standards
All lessons will be taught to standards, not to time.
The standards are set by the Georgia Department of Education (GDOE).
Students are required to show completed hands-on projects before moving on to the next lesson.
Expectations
This is a progressive class, where each piece of information will be presented and then applied. All information is cumulative, meaning you will need to retain information from one section to succeed in subsequent sessions. If you do not understand something or miss a class, it is your responsibility to seek further information or ask for clarification.
Assignment Timelines
We live in a world of deadlines. All assignments should be completed by the due date and submitted in class or to the Google Folder set up for the class. Late projects will lose 5 points from the final grade for the first day late and 5 points for each additional day (24 hours) late. The class start time is considered the start of a new day.
