Welcome to Dr. Fleming’s World Geography!
World geography is a semester-long course that provides students with an analytical view of how geographic factors influence human behavior on the earth. Students will examine how physical and cultural characteristics of geography contribute to the development of societies. Additionally, students will examine how political, environmental, and economic factors impact a region’s development and varying levels of cooperation within the major world regions.
All information relevant to our class will be found in Google Classroom: Daily Stream (announcements) will provide assignment information, instructional materials, links to online texts, announcements for class, due dates, test dates, etc. Assignments will be turned in on paper and online. Class codes given in class
When students miss class, work and instructions will be posted in Google Classroom by the end of each school day. Students are responsible for identifying and making up missed assignments. Grades will be given through Infinite Campus only; parents are encouraged to use Parent Portal to monitor student progress.
Technology: Using technology and online options is a privilege students may lose if abused (use of social media in class, texting, inappropriate websites, or other off-task behavior). Students should sign up for our texting service, REMIND, for notifications on tests, due dates, or announcements; parents also welcome! Students will never need a phone in this class.
Grades: Summative assessments (tests, quizzes, projects) 60%; formative assessments (classwork) 40%
