Multicultural literature will cover novels, short stories, poems, plays, and music that will be emotional, challenging, and sometimes show different world views than what students may be used to. Students need to keep an open mind, be respectful, and ask questions when they need assistance.

Our goal is to read, discuss, and learn how to embrace the power of the written word from different times, points of view, places, and cultures. 

We will explore the cultural norms, history, and people through their literary works focusing on the areas of Oral Tradition/Native American Tales & Lit/Creation Stories, Latin America/Hispanic Lit, Middle Eastern Lit, Asian Lit (Focus on Indian, Chinese, and Japanese), African Lit, African American Lit, and Black Lit, Other European Lit & Shakespeare

I was honored to be selected to help with the creation of Multicultural Literature during the 2016-2017 school year, afterwhich it was offered for the first time in Columbia County in the 2017-2018 school year.
