Primary sources like documents, maps, art, images, charts, and material culture will be used, interpreted, and analyzed. Classic works of literature will be examined to expand the student’s comprehension of a connected and fervently expanding world system. Many of them engage multiple, if not all of the five themes of AP World History (see below).

AP World History: Modern is taught by periods with a distinct focus on each. Each period will be broken down by units. The percentages attached to each period represent the attention given to certain timelines. The percentages also indicate how much content will be distributed on the AP exam at the end of the semester.
