AP World History: Modern is a demanding college-level course that centers around five themes and 19 key concepts from prehistory to the present day. It tests the boundaries and conditions of world societies through innovative lesson plans and interactive lectures. AP World will cover political, economic, religious, social, intellectual, and artistic trends within nine historical thinking skills. The course offers balanced global coverage with Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe each represented.

AP World History was reinvented into a new course called AP World History: Modern. The focus is strongly appointed to 1200 CE to Present. The AP Exam will focus on this timeline but to fulfill high school credit hours 6000 BCE to 1200 CE will be taught as a unit (Period Zero) to give the students a foundation for what they will be studying this year.

The course highlights the nature of changes in international frameworks and their causes and consequences, as well as comparisons among major societies. The course emphasizes relevant factual knowledge deployed in conjunction with leading interpretive issues and types of historical evidence. The course will help improve the ability to analyze historical documents and express historical understanding in writing and presentation.

The course will fully prepare students to take part in the re-designed AP World: Modern Exam this May. The new AP exam format includes 55 multiple choice questions, 3-4 short answers (SAQ), 1 Document-Based Question (DBQ), and 1 Long Essay (LEQ).
