Rules & Class Conduct:

You are a Healthcare Science Technology Education representative at this school.  Your behavior in class is expected to be appropriate and professional at all times.  Failure to comply with the rules of conduct will be handled in accordance with Columbia County’s code of conduct policies including dismissal from the program.  Classroom rules and guidelines are posted in the classroom.  Appropriate and professional behavior expected is as follows:

Absences / Tardies:

Excellent, prompt attendance is vital to your success in this course. It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements for any missed work and to complete it within the specified time limit set by school policy.  Tardies will be handled according to GTHS policies

Safety:

This course involves activities that require hands on applications.  Safety procedures and techniques will be discussed prior to each activity.  These procedures must be followed at all times.  Repeat violations will be managed on an individual basis.

Make-up Work:

All assignments are expected to be turned in at assigned times.  In case of absence, make-up class work, quizzes, and tests must be completed during scheduled makeup sessions.  You are responsible for obtaining class notes and assignments.

Evaluation:

Methods used in assessing and evaluating students in this course include written response, oral response, quizzes, tests, projects, teacher observation, performance assessments, and student participation.  All assignments are expected to be turned in at assigned times.  The instructor reserves the right to make adjustments and/or changes in course content as needed.

Evaluation is an ongoing daily process.  Formative Assessments include any method of evaluating students during the learning (ex. written or oral Q&A, quizzes, projects and teacher observation), and Summative Assessments include any method of evaluating students after the learning (ex. tests and practical application). Students will have one opportunity to take a resassessment if they fail the first summative assessment.  The maximum grade of the reassessment is a 90.  No minimum grade.  Students will need to invest time in relearning (ex. revisiting formative assessment material) prior to reassessment. Once reassessment is complete, the new grade will be indicated in Infinite Campus.  If the student chooses not to reassess prior to the end of the semester, the original grade will be entered. The school grading scale will be followed.

Grade Distribution:

Summative Assessments (evaluating after learning) 60%

Formative Assessments (evaluating during learning) 40%

Semester Formula: 80%

1st Semester and Final Exam = 20%
