Week of May 9th-13th:

• We will continue reviewing all skills from the year. We will watch videos and do some activities.

Week of May 2nd-6th:

• We will continue reviewing all skills from the year. We will take our GMAS over science also.

Week of April 25th-29th:

• We will continue reviewing all skills from the year.

Week of April 18th-22nd:

• We will play some review games to get ready for our Unit 6 post test. Then we will begin reviewing all skills from the year for the GMAS test.

Week of April 12th-15th:

• We will do our data chats for math iReady this week on Tuesday to revisit our goals and then will have some electricity assignments, as well as some hands on practice with magnets and electromagnets.

Week of March 28th-April 1st:

• We will have a virtual, interactive presentation from Georgia Power on Monday. Then we will work on some hands on practice with circuits. We will also review all science skills for the year on a room transformation day this week!

Week of March 21st-25th:

• We will work on taking notes over forms of energy this week as well as go more in-depth with insulators and conductors. We may also move on to magnets.

Week of March 14th-18th:

• We will review static electricity on Monday and the students will take a quiz on Tuesday. Then we will move into forms of energy and how energy can change forms. We may have time to begin circuit electricity notes later in the week.

Week of March 7th-11th:

• We will have another short week, with a 1/2 day and a full day off. Monday we will do our 4H lesson and then we Tuesday and Wednesday we will continue with static electricity. We will finish up notes and have a class assignment to work on. Our static electricity quiz will be next week.

Week of February 28th-March 4th:

• We will begin our last unit (magnets and electricity) this week! We will start with static electricity. This is always a favorite unit for myself AND the students! We have lots of hands on activities to do, as well as a virtual electricity field trip with Georgia Power in late March!

Week of February 21st-25th:

• Having a short week again this week, we will use our science time to do our data chats regarding the math diagnostic tests we took a few weeks ago. Students will meet individually with me and go over their personal data and set their goals to meet their typical growth by the end of the year. We will work together on steps that can be followed to do this. We will begin our last unit (magnets and electricity) next week!

Week of February 14th-18th:

• This week the students will show what they know on the physical and chemical changes test on Tuesday. On Monday, we will go over the study guide, answer any misconceptions that students still have, and play a review game. Wednesday we will explore some more chemical change demonstrations!

Week of February 7th-11th:

• This week we will continue to review physical and chemical changes, through some demonstrations, some hands on labs and some assignments. We will also get to play Gimkit to review. The study guide will come home this week and be due next week before the test which is tentatively set for February 15th.

• This week we will continue physical science. Students will take notes over physical and chemical changes. We will have two assignments and will also play the Gimkit game. Some more hands on activities are coming soon!

• This week we will continue physical science. Students will take notes over mixtures and solutions. We will have a quiz over all notes and vocabulary on Thursday.

• This week we will continue physical science. Students will have two open notes assignments to work on early this week and then we will move on with more notes. Studying vocabulary and the INB nightly greatly increases success in science!

Week of January 10th-14th:

• This week we will begin physical science. We will review the states of matter and talk about atoms and the periodic table of elements. Students will have two open notes assignments to work on this week also.

Week of January 4th-7th:

• This week we will spend reviewing life science and earth science. We will begin physical science next week!

Week of December 13th-17th:

• This week we will finish up Earth Science. We will review on Monday and Tuesday and will take the test on Wednesday.

Week of December 6th-10th:

• This week we will continue with unit 4, which covers earth science. We will talk about destructive forces, controlling constructive and destructive processes, and then have two days of weathering stations for students to see some of the things we discussed in a hands-on way. We will also play our Earth Science Gimkit. Study guides will go home this week also.

Week of November 29th-December 3rd:

• This week we will continue with unit 4, which covers earth science. We will talk about volcanoes and have an assignment on earthquakes and volcanoes that students will have two days to complete. We will then discuss constructive forces.

Week of November 15th-19th:

• This week we will move on to unit 4, which covers earth science. In this unit students will learn about the layers of the earth, volcanoes and earthquakes as constructive and destructive forces, and weathering, erosion and deposition.

Week of November 8th-12th:

• This week we will take the Unit 3 test. We will then finish up heredity and also review all of life science by playing a gimkit with questions from all of our life science standards. We start earth science next week!

Week of November 1st-5th:

• This week we will finish up notes for unit 3. Please check in that they are studying their INB nightly! Students will have several assignments to complete this week, and we will play some games to review both classification and heredity. Study guide will go home this week. Unit test next week.

Week of October 25th-29th:

• This week we will start with the second topic of Unit 3, heredity. Students will take notes this week. Please check in that they are studying their INB nightly! We will also have a fun heredity activity on Friday as part of our Halloween day.

Week of October 18th-22nd:

• This week we will continue with classification of plants. Students will have an assignment and an open notes quiz We will also get to start our classroom experiment with flowers (I couldn't find what I needed last week!). Please check in that they are studying their INB nightly! A Gimkit review game has also been put into Google Classroom for review.

• This week we will move on to classification of plants. Students will learn two ways that plants can be classified. We will also start a classroom experiment with flowers. Week of October 4th-8th:

• This week we will continue on with classification of animals. We will continue notes on vertebrates and also take notes on invertebrates. Students will have a couple open note assignments also. Please check in that they are studying their INB nightly!

Week of September 27th-October 1st:

• This week we will have our 4-H meeting for my homeroom students. Mrs. Harper's students will watch a science video. We then will move in to our next science unit, which starts with classification of plants and animals. We will have a fun intro lesson, watch some videos, and take some notes this week.

Week of September 20th-24th:

• This week we will finish up Unit 2 on cells and microorganisms. Their quiz on microorganisms will be on Monday and we will go over the study guide Wednesday and have the test on Thursday. Make sure they complete the study guide and are studying nightly!

Week of September 13th-17th:

• This week we will finish up learning about microorganisms and have a few in class assignments on that topic. Students will also receive their study guide for the Unit 2 test over cells and microorganisms. Students should be studying their INB nightly--- vocab and information.

Week of September 7th-10th:

• This week students can retake their cells quiz if wanted. Papers went home last week. The students will have some time to work on their in-school cell project as well, and they are due Friday the 10th. We will also begin discussing microorganisms, which is the second topic that will be included for unit 2. We will talk about the 5 Kingdoms and then harmful microorganisms. Students should be studying their INB nightly--- vocab and information.

Week of August 30th-September 3rd:

• This week we will have our cells quiz. We will continue to play vocab games also. The students will continue their in-school cell project as well! We will work on those all week long. If they need more time, we will extend into early next week, but I hope to have them all finished by Thursday!

Week of August 23rd-27th:

• This week we will have several assignments to really focus on the vocabulary we have learned. We will play a vocab game also. The students will choose and begin their in-school cell project as well! We will work on that, along with other assignments, to prepare to take a quiz on the vocabulary next Monday.

Week of August 16th-20th:

• We introduced the topic of cells last week. This week we will learn the organelles in a plant and animal cell, and focus on learning the vocabulary. We will watch some videos and take notes.

Week of August 9th-13th:

• We did not get to what was planned last week, so we will work on these things this week.

Week of August 5th-6th:

• We will begin this year by talking about what makes science exciting, and also about the scientific method! We will have some team building activities to get started, and will then begin studying cells for our first unit. We will learn about plant cells and animals cells, and how they are alike and different. Ask your student to show you their interactive notebook (INB) each night!

Science Textbook is online and available through Classlink. It is called Stemscopes and the students know how to access it! There is a lot of material in their Google Classroom for review.
