Criterion D

Completing this project gave me a lot of new knowledge but also another way of seeing things and a lot of new skills. Throughout the project I learned a lot of research skills and organization skills, but apart from developing this useful skills I can happily say that I had some topics with almost zero knowledge and some with a regular one, I now have vast knowledge in all of them. I’m now able to talk about every single topic that appears in the extract with confidence and using true facts. Another example that I can use to prove all the knowledge and skills acquired is the creation of my product because I built it myself using my knowledge and the investigation I did. I only received help when I needed to use a machine that were too dangerous for me but the rest I did it on my own.

Doing the personal project really helped me to become a better IB student and a better learner, It helped me to really understand every skill, every attribute and every attitude the IB is making us develop. It made me achieve my goal of becoming more disciplined and organized in my academic life but it also made me become more reflective and more of an inquirer learner. I’ve become more inquirer because of all the research that I’ve needed to do, I now even like to research topics I don’t understand or just to have a deeper knowledge in topics I already know. I believe that it has mostly made me more reflective because throughout the entire topic I’ve had to reflect on everys single thing I did bad asking myself questions like why is it bad? How can I improve it? Or what other options do I have?. One example could be my inquiry questions, I changed them like two times because I didn't feel comfortable with them or because I followed the suggestions I received. As a conclusion, I believe this project is necessary for any student who wants to improve and wants to know the limits of his abilities, although the process is long it’s really an eye-opener experience into knowing what are you capable of doing, what you can improve further in life and realizing how important are the skills we are being taught.
