Newsletter, Oct. 5-9, 2020
Dear Parents, I am so very blessed by this class! You are such understanding parents! We are excited as more of our virtual students come to class. We have more kids to play with on the playground and more kids to eat lunch with!
Phonics-- Introduce;-frequency words; brother, give, have, was, any, many, Words beginning with j and ending with mp, words ending with x and ss, words with y and z. Unit 1 review test.
Spelling-- List 3; and, band, sand, dot, not, pot, fill, hill, will, they, Pretest Thursday, final test Friday
Bible-- Memory Verse; Matthew 28:20b "And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Stories include; Abram Leaves Home, He'll Walk with You, Abram Goes to Egypt, The Whole Truth
History--Chapter 5, Your Country
Math--Introduce; comparing numbers to 79, tens/ones to 59,Count to 100 by 1's,5's, 10's

Phonics---Distinguish plural of nouns, differentiate fact from opinion, write sentences to communicate word meaning.
Bible-- Stories include; The Words of a Snake, Tempted, God Punishes Sin, Danika's choice, Memory Verse; Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Math--Introduce; addition, adding zero, addition sentences, word problems
Creative Writing--Review nouns as person, place or thing, Introduce; sentence structure
History--People in the world, the globe, directions

Sept. 7-11, 2020
Dear Parents, This last week with all my class "together" has been awesome! Thank you to each of you for what you invest to insure that your child is ready each day to learn!
Phonics--- Listen for details, learn about the word discussion, continue reviewing short vowels and consonant sounds
Bible---Complete our study of creation, Memory Verse; Exodus 20:11a "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day." We will practice this verse in class. Please help your child work on it at home.
History--- Introduce; continents, oceans, cardinal directions, cultures that are different from ours
Creative Writing--Introduce; nouns as a person, place or thing
Math--Introduce;the teen numbers, comparing sets using the words greater than, less than, more than, fewer than, chapter one review and test

* Please send a marked water bottle with your child every day
* Keep early releases to a minimum. Your child misses much more than a worksheet when he is gone.

August 31- Sept.4th
Dear Parents, Welcome to first grade. Your students are amazing. We are bonding as a class already!
Phonics--review blending of words, names of color words
Math--Practice with 10 frames, even/odd, and compare sets
History-- Learn about our continents and the world God made for us.
Bible-- Study of the days of creation, Memory Verse John 1:3 "Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made." We will test on this verse on Friday for our Bible grade.

*Girls hair bows and headbands must match the colors of the uniform
*Socks must be worn everyday
*Drop off begins at 8:00, School begins at 8:15
* Each child needs a water bottle or 2 every day
