Concept/Idea

"Dreamer in the Light: The Little Hamster's Tale" is an animated short that explores themes of adventure, danger, and self-discovery. This narrative follows a hamster's daring journey from the countryside to the city, where he encounters both wonders and perils, leading to profound self-realization through a dream-like experience.

Content

A hamster lived in the countryside, longing for a broader sky. One day, he ventured into the big city, filled with dangers. In a restaurant, he marveled at exotic foods and indulged in a bouncy pudding. However, his adventure turned perilous when a big hand wrapped him in a sushi roll, and a large bird eyed him greedily. As the bird played with him in the air, the hamster, though trapped, showed no regret but acceptance of his fate.

  Suddenly, a group of colorful balloons rescued him, gently carrying him down. But as the balloons burst, the hamster saw a vast sky with a mesmerizing sun, understanding something profound. Waking from the dream, he realized it was his painting and his dream. The wind whispered, and the hamster held onto his dream, knowing that dreams are never forgotten.

Process

 The project uses Adobe Animate for character animations and Adobe After Effects for compositing and adding visual effects that enhance the surreal, dream-like quality of the narrative. Extensive storyboarding was conducted to visualize the sequence of events and ensure a smooth flow of action. Research focused on urban landscapes and lighting techniques to authentically depict the cityscape and convey the emotional shifts experienced by the hamster.

Character Design

The final piece features a blend of humor and pathos, bringing the hamster’s adventures to life with vivid animations and a compelling soundtrack that enhances the thematic depth of the story.

Work 2:  Ultimate Buddy

Project title: The Best Buddy

Concept

The animation revolves around Ayaya, a young boy who, after facing romantic rejection, forms an unexpected friendship with Mifu, a witty stray cat. The story highlights themes of companionship, resilience, and the surprising ways life can bring joy after disappointment. The aim is to portray the emotional journey through expressive animation and poignant storytelling.

Content:

In the heart of a bustling city lived a boy named Ayaya, who harbored feelings for a girl he admired. One fateful day, Ayaya mustered the courage to confess his love, only to face rejection. Heartbroken, he wandered aimlessly through the streets, eventually settling on a park bench, shrouded in loneliness and despair. As he brooded over his misfortune, feeling the weight of the world's unfairness, an unexpected companion leaped onto the bench beside him.

Startled by each other's presence, Ayaya and a stray cat named Mifu locked eyes in a silent exchange. Just then, a gust of wind stirred the bouquet at Ayaya's feet, sending a petal fluttering onto Mifu's forehead. To Ayaya’s surprise, Mifu burst into laughter, clearly amused by the spectacle of Ayaya's sorrow. Feeling mocked, Ayaya's sadness quickly turned to annoyance as Mifu made a cheeky face and darted away, prompting a playful chase through the city’s winding alleys.

As the sun dipped towards the horizon, the aroma of grilled fish from a nearby restaurant captured Mifu's attention. He halted, pleading with Ayaya to indulge him with a treat. When Ayaya refused, Mifu, ever resourceful, decided to take matters into his own paws. Using an abandoned tin can as a makeshift collection container, Mifu performed a series of agile and charming dance moves. His performance captivated passersby, who generously filled his can with coins.

Ayaya watched in awe, impressed by Mifu’s problem-solving skills and unexpected talent. As they continued their adventures through the city, playing games of hide and seek and engaging in spirited chases, Ayaya caught Mifu’s coveted fish during a playful scuffle at sunset. Exhausted but exhilarated, they both collapsed onto the soft grass under a sky painted with vibrant hues.

Lying there, Ayaya gazed up at the clouds and had an epiphany. He realized that sometimes, the most significant relationships in our lives appear most unexpectedly—just like Mifu. As the evening stars began to twinkle, Ayaya smiled at his new friend, feeling a profound sense of gratitude for this serendipitous bond. Mifu, the stray cat, had become not just a friend but a cherished companion in his journey of healing and discovery.

Process 

Utilized Adobe Animate for character animation and Adobe After Effects for compositing and visual effects to enhance the narrative. Research included studying urban environments for background settings and exploring various lighting techniques to reflect the mood shifts throughout the story.

The final animation captures the essence of urban adventures and emotional growth, appealing to both children and adults with its universal message of finding friendship in unexpected places.

Project title: Neighborhood

Concept

 This animation explores the theme of neighborhood and community, utilizing abstract shapes and lines to symbolize the connections and bonds between people. It delves into the concepts of unity and togetherness, showcasing how individuals can come together to form a cohesive and supportive community. The animation highlights the empathy inherent in human nature, emphasizing the importance of helping one another. It is a celebration of humanity, illustrating the love and care that people can offer to their neighbors and the wider community
