San Juan National High School is a public secondary school situated in Handiong, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. It was established in 1953 during the administration of President Elpidio Quirino, four years after the town of Handiong was formed. The school was initially called Handiong High School, with only four teachers in its staff. It was renamed San Juan National High School in 1964 after St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of Handiong.
During the early years of the school's existence, its facilities were very basic. Classes were held in makeshift buildings made of nipa and bamboo. Students were forced to sit on the floor or on wooden benches with no backrest. The school had no library, laboratory, or other facilities that could enhance the learning experience of its students. Despite these challenges, San Juan National High School managed to produce graduates who excelled in various fields.
Today, San Juan National High School has become a center for academic excellence in the town of Handiong. The school has undergone numerous improvements over the years, including the construction of a multi-purpose hall, a library, a science laboratory, and a computer laboratory. The school is also proud of its faculty, which consists of experienced and dedicated teachers who guide, mentor, and inspire their students to become responsible citizens and leaders in their respective communities.
