My role as a teaching assistant provided valuable opportunities to contribute to the learning environment at Sacred Heart High School. My responsibilities included:
Mathematics Instruction:
PowerPoint Presentation: I was tasked with creating a PowerPoint presentation to support my resource teacher's lesson on the rectangular coordinate system. This involved researching the topic, designing engaging visuals, and incorporating relevant examples.
Energizer Activity: Prior to the lesson, I facilitated an energizer activity to engage students and prepare them for the upcoming topic.
Board Work Support: During the lesson, I assisted my resource teacher by providing problems for students to solve on the board, ensuring a smooth flow of the lesson.
Quiz Assessment: After the lesson, I was responsible for checking student quizzes, providing feedback, and contributing to the overall assessment process.
ICT Tutorial Development:
I was given the opportunity to create a PowerPoint tutorial for the subject ICT. This allowed me to showcase my skills and knowledge in PowerPoint design and instructional technology. I presented the tutorial to students under the guidance of my resource teacher.
Intramurals Support:
I was tasked with creating criteria and scoring formulas for various intramural competitions, including the Mr. and Ms. Intramurals. This required me to learn and utilize Microsoft Excel, a skill I had not previously mastered. I successfully completed the task by utilizing YouTube video tutorials and demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn new software.
I also assisted with the intramural chess competition, contributing to the smooth running of the event.
SHHS e-Modulo Training Workshop: Through Project MATHIBAY (Mathematics, Arts and Technology Training for Holistic Intervention, Booster Activities for the Youth) with the theme "e-Modulo Through Mathematics, Arts, and Technology" was held on November 12, 2024, at Sacred Heart High School (SHHS).
The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants including me and my mathematics co-student teachers, selected students from different grade levels, and mathematics teachers as well. The highlight of the program was the presentation by Mr. Sherwin B. Alemania, a skilled mathematics teacher, who served as the resource speaker. He shared his expertise on creating engaging e-modulos, providing valuable insights and techniques for effective design. Mr. Alemania emphasized key considerations for successful e-modulo development, offering practical advice and guidance. Following the presentation, participants engaged in a hands-on activity where they applied the knowledge and techniques to create their own e-modulos. This interactive session fostered collaboration and allowed participants to put their newfound knowledge into practice.
Overall, the training workshop provided us with a valuable opportunity to enhance our skills in e-modulo creation, equipping with new knowledge and techniques that can be applied in the future. It fostered a collaborative learning environment and provided a platform for sharing best practices among educators, ultimately contributing to the school's commitment to providing high-quality, engaging learning experiences for all students.
Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) took a proactive stance against drug use by hosting a comprehensive Drug Symposium on October 14, 2024. The program brought together students, teachers, and us students' teachers in the school's covered court for a powerful message of awareness and prevention.
The symposium featured two keynote speakers, each offering unique perspectives on the dangers of drug use. Daniel E. Dequiros, a respected Church pastor, shared his insights on the moral and spiritual implications of drug involvement. PSSG Jennifer S. Bables, a PCAD/FJGAD PNCO, provided a detailed overview of the legal consequences and potential health risks associated with drug use. Both speakers emphasized the importance of making informed choices and the devastating impact that drugs can have on individuals, families, and communities. They urged us to "Say No to Drugs" and to seek support if we or someone we know is struggling with substance abuse.
The symposium provided a platform for open dialogue and education, equipping us with the knowledge and resources we need to make responsible decisions. The program also served as a reminder of the importance of community support in combating drug use and fostering a healthy environment for all.
