Learning Objectives:
My mentor's approach to crafting learning objectives is thoughtful and purposeful. He ensures that each objective is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Each objective clearly defines what students should be able to do by the end of the lesson, provides a way to measure their success, is attainable within the lesson's scope, connects to the overall learning goals, and sets a realistic timeframe for achievement. This deliberate approach ensures that the objectives are not only clear for the students but also provide a roadmap for the lesson's structure and content, guiding both the teaching and learning processes.
Teaching Methods:
The teacher is using a combination of traditional and modern teaching methods. This approach can be described as a blended teaching method, combining elements of both traditional and modern techniques to create an engaging and effective learning environment for the students. This includes using tools like PowerPoint and applications to enhance learning, while also utilizing the traditional method of using the board to demonstrate computations or situations. The teacher also engages students by linking the topic to current trends or real-life situations to maintain student interest and relevance.
Interaction Between Teacher and Students:
The interaction between the teacher and students was characterized by friendly socialization and a nurturing, parental approach. The students showed respect for the teacher, who facilitated a dynamic and collaborative learning environment. This atmosphere encouraged mutual engagement, fostering student participation, and inquiry. The teacher actively promoted a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, particularly encouraging quieter students to participate. This effort not only enhanced the involvement of less active participants but also strengthened the overall class dynamic, boosting both confidence and excitement in the learning process.
Student Behavior and Engagement:
Student behavior and engagement varied, with many actively participating and enjoying the activities/procedures. While some students were focused and listening attentively, others struggled to maintain their concentration. When the teacher was at the front, the students showed respect by behaving appropriately and remaining quiet. Silence was observed when they're writing, as the teacher discussed the content they were working on, which helped reinforce their understanding. Additionally, the students followed the teacher's instructions during activities and engaged in friendly socialization, creating a positive and interactive classroom environment.
Assessment Methods:
The teacher employed a variety of assessment methods to gauge student understanding. He used direct questioning during class discussions, allowing him to assess individual comprehension and identify areas needing further explanation. He also incorporated interactive activities that required students to apply their knowledge. Finally, he incorporated traditional assessment methods, such as written assignments and quizzes, to evaluate their mastery of the material in a more formal setting. This multi-faceted approach ensured a comprehensive understanding of each student's progress and provided valuable feedback for both the teacher and the students.

Assessment time after the lesson. The students were given 35 minutes to answer 15 multiple-choice questions, and it was clear that some found the test easy while others struggled. I noticed a few students looking at their classmates' answers, which prompted the teacher to step in. He didn't directly punish anyone, but he did subtly remind the class to make sure they understood what they were copying and that it was correct. This gentle approach, focusing on the potential consequences of cheating, was a clever way to discourage future instances without making anyone feel embarrassed or targeted.

Leading the activities, "jumping jacks" and "board activity," was a nerve-wracking experience. Standing in front of the class, with my mentor and the students watching, I felt a wave of pressure and nervousness. But I pushed past my comfort zone, determined to improve my confidence and teaching skills. Despite feeling a little nervous at first, I found myself enjoying the process. The students' active participation was incredibly rewarding, and I even felt a sense of camaraderie as if I were just one of their friends. The boardwork activity presented a unique challenge. Instead of calling on the usual eager participants, I intentionally chose students who were less likely to raise their hands. This strategy not only encouraged their participation but also fostered a more inclusive learning environment. The activity ended on a positive note, leaving me feeling more confident and excited about my teaching journey.

The lesson on the rectangular coordinate system was particularly engaging. The teacher skillfully combined traditional and modern methods, using two (2) meter sticks to demonstrate the Cartesian plane. He actively involved the students by asking them to identify whether the meter sticks were held horizontally (x-axis) or vertically (y-axis). This interactive approach kept everyone attentive and ensured understanding. The teacher further enhanced the lesson by connecting it to real-life situations, explaining how longitude and latitude function as x and y-axis. He even used the example of Typhoon Kristine, asking students to determine its potential landfall coordinates. This practical application helped solidify the students' grasp of the concept. By incorporating these elements, the teacher transformed a potentially dry topic into an interesting and engaging learning experience.

The class began with a lively energizer activity, designed to engage students with the topic of linear equations in two variables and their graphs. Using a meter stick, the teacher instructed students to follow its movements, creating a fun and interactive way to introduce the concept of direction and change. The teacher's friendly demeanor made the activity even more enjoyable for the students. Following this, he seamlessly transitioned into a real-life example, discussing the price of rice, a topic familiar to the students. He then illustrated the relationship between the price and the quantity of rice using a graph, showcasing the connection between the variables. This relatable example sparked interest and furthered their understanding. Throughout the lesson, the students demonstrated their cooperation and active participation, showing their enthusiasm for learning.

The teacher maintained a professional demeanor throughout the lesson, striking a balance between friendly interactions and setting clear boundaries. He knew when to inject humor and engage in lighthearted conversation, creating a relaxed atmosphere. However, he also demonstrated firm control over the class, ensuring that student behavior remained appropriate and that the focus remained on the lesson. He skillfully kept the conversation on track whenever it wandered from the topic, preventing side conversations and distractions. The classroom fell silent when the students were writing, signifying a focused and serious atmosphere fostered by the teacher's presence. This combination of professionalism, humor, and clear expectations created an effective learning environment where students felt comfortable yet focused.
The classroom was set up to support student learning. Every chair was in good condition and arranged comfortably, and electric fans kept the room well-ventilated. A medicines was provided prioritizing students health, located near the adviser's desk at the back of the room. The adviser's area was organized and efficient, and the learning and instructional materials were readily available. Cleaning supplies and trashcans/trashbins were also easily accessible, keeping the classroom clean and tidy.
