Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics
Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Sipocot
This e-Portfolio project JOSEPH documents my artifacts from my field study observation and assistantship at Sacred Heart High School, a public school located at Calagbangan, Sipocot, Camarines Sur. My observations primarily focused on mathematics instruction in an 8th-grade classroom section Freedom, but also extended to other grade levels and sections handled by my resource teacher, where I primarily assisted. Through this portfolio, I aim to showcase my learning journey, demonstrating my developing understanding of effective teaching practices and reflecting on how these experiences have shaped my path as an educator.
The classroom environment is quietly accommodating, friendly, and is thoughtfully designed to facilitate learning, offering essential amenities like proper ventilation, cleaning materials and teaching supplies, a designated water station, and strategically placed trash receptacles. The well-arranged and organized layout, complete with orderly seating, fosters a welcoming environment where all students experience a sense of security, appreciation, and encouragement.
The teacher's presence serves as a model for student behavior in a way of displaying a leadership to classroom management and flexibility in serving and guiding students, highlighting the significant influence educators hold over their students. The teacher cultivates a cohesive community among students, fostering open communication that promotes inquiry, idea exchange, and assistance-seeking. Overall, effective classroom management is paramount, ensuring a positive learning environment where both the classroom and students are effectively guided and supported by the teacher.
