If you child requires medication administration during the school day, regularly, occasionally, or in an emergency, please contact the students school nurse who will review the policies and procedures, and develop an medication administration plan.
When a student requires medication administration during the school day, caregivers are required to contact the school nurse and provide the following:
A medication order from a licensed prescriber
Written caregiver consent
Medication in a pharmacy labeled container for no more than 30 days supply.
A Physician's order and caregiver/guardian consent is also required when a nursing activity /treatment requires Physician oversight.
The following over the counter medications may be given at the discretion of the school nurse, if there is an updated emergency card signed by the caregiver/guardian on file.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
Ibuprofen
Benadryl
Hydrocortisone Cream 1%,
antacids
cough drops
