Applicants must be high school seniors who exemplifies leadership qualities.

Applicants must be attending Brazosport College or Alvin Community College 

Applicant should attach a copy of his/her transcript to the application  



BARBARA FRANKLIN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by the Board of Directors of the

Community Foundation of Brazoria County.

Eligibility

 Applicants must be a high school senior who exemplifies leadership qualities.

 Applicants must be attending Brazosport College or Alvin Community College.

 The completed scholarship application must be returned to the counselor’s office on or before the

deadline set by the school.

 Applicant should attach a copy of his/her transcript to the application.


Selection of Awardee

A scholarship committee appointed by the Community Foundation of Brazoria County will be

responsible for examining the applications and making the selections. An awardee will be

selected, unless, in the judgment of the committee, no applicant is deemed worthy of the award.


Basis of Selection

In selecting the recipient of the award, the committee will give consideration to the following

points (not necessarily in order of preference):

1. Overall grade point average

2. Leadership in activities

3. Participation in other activities, both in school and outside.

4. Honors and recognitions received.

5. Financial need.


Presentation of Award

The award(s) of $1,000 will be given to one recipient in the form of a letter of intent. The

Community Foundation of Brazoria County will pay the scholarship directly to the college upon

receipt of proof of registration from the college.


Selection Committee

The selection committee will be appointed by the Community Foundation of Brazoria County.

Should no one be found who is willing to serve on the selection committee, the Board of Directors

of the Community Foundation of Brazoria County will appoint at least three members to serve on

said committee. Scholarship recipients will be selected according to the defined criteria.
