House Update

NEW SECTION! Written by Mr Springham - Head of Endurance House & English Teacher

The House competition has got off to a cracking start this year.

First, we celebrated the European Day of Languages (thanks to the modern foreign languages department) where students were excited to share their languages and cultures from across the globe in a series of educational games and activities.

The event was a huge success, with students from all year groups participating. For the highest number of participants, Adventure house were declared the winners. Chapeau!

Secondly, we had the big one for term 1: Games Day. Two days of intense competition across football, volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis, table tennis and padel. As a Head of House, it was my privilege to be able to wander around the different sports and see the great skills and sportsmanship on display from all houses; it’s always a pleasure to see how talented Caxton students are outside of the classroom.

As ever, a massive thank you to the PE department for organising the event, and to all the teachers and KS5 students who gave up their time to officiate the events - it couldn’t be done without you. Once all the equipment was packed away and the points were tallied up, Endeavour House were declared the victors, with Adventure a close second.

Coming up before Christmas, we have the much-loved fancy-dress fun run for charity as well as the blockbuster Christmas House event, which will close the first term of school. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled to your House Google Classrooms for information on what’s coming up and how to take part.
