STEAM 8th Grade

Eighth graders will be learning how to build and maintain a digital portfolio. Students will begin this process using Google Sites. Once they have a portfolio, students will work at filling it with meaningful work that they begin in the STEAM class using the Engineer Design Process. With each project, students will define the problem they are working on and will brainstorm ways to solve the problem. During these two phases, students will do research in which they learn vocabulary / definitions, how to use equipment, and decide on what tools they will need. Next in the project, students will plan and begin to build a prototype of their solution. Students will then build, test, and present their projects. Following the presentation of projects, students will reflect on what worked and what did not.

Some of the projects that 8th graders will have the opportunity to complete will involve using Microbits, Cue - from Wonder Workshop, SPIKE Prime with Lego, Sphero, and Parrot Mamba Drones. More details about these projects can be found on the 8th grade resource page.
