Why does sustainable purchasing matter?

342,000,000 barrels of oil are used to make synthetic materials for clothes.
By making informed decisions and being intentional about what we buy, we can make a difference, however small, by reducing our personal fashion waste.
One way we can make a difference is by thrifting clothes, wearing hand-me-down and donated clothes, or not buying new clothes.
But many people don’t have the privilege of prioritizing sustainable and ethical purchasing, and it’s important to recognize this privilege.
