Join Bill & Tracy as they explore communication styles, strengths and weaknesses within your relationship, and skill building for strong communication in marriage. The evening will be presented workshop style so that each couple has time for discussion, planning and exploring communication as a couple. Topics will include: communication styles, love languages, the importance of sharing experiences and stories within family life and communication tips.
February 19: FORGIVENESS

This session will provide a concrete outline of the definition of forgiveness. Discussion will focus around what forgiveness is and what it is not, how we live out forgiveness in our daily lives, the struggles with forgiveness and how we are called as a people of faith to orient our lives towards forgiveness. Couples will have a chance to work through the definition together and discuss their strengths and weaknesses in living out forgiveness in their relationship.
March 19: CONFLICT RESOLUTION

This session will be spent growing healthy skills for conflict resolution. Conflict will happen in marriage and family life. How do we do it in a healthy way that leaves each other’s dignity intact, strengthens the relationship and helps each person grow in skill? Topics will include: Apology styles, relationship repair, minimizing damage and optimizing team work.
April 23: MARRIAGE & SEXUALITY

While addressing the hot button issues of today’s hyper-sexualized culture, these presentations aim at displaying the truth of the language of our bodies, as offered by St John Paul II. By highlighting the beauty and intentionality of God’s marvelous plan for marriage and human sexuality, a wider path to freedom and healing open amidst a culture of confusion. Through an enthusiastic, down to earth, delivery of St JPII’s teaching, they aim to foster a hunger and appreciation for the beauty of God’s design in creating us male & female.
May 21: FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP

Guillermo and Sara Garcia have been married almost 9 years and have been blessed with two daughters. They have been teaching financial literacy to engaged couples for the diocese of Calgary since 2018. Both strongly believe there is great freedom in understand how to manage your family’s finance, and that learning to be good stewards of your financial blessings is key to a successful and happy marriage. They are currently parishioners at Ascension Catholic Parish.
