Leader: Let us pray.

Almighty and ever-living God,

look upon the heart of Your dearly beloved Son

and upon the praise and satisfaction

He renders You on behalf of sinners, and being thus appeased,

grant them the pardon which they seek from your mercy,

in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Your Son,

who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

world without end.

BLESSING OF THE IMAGE OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Leader: Let us ask God’s blessing on this image which reminds us of the love that the Lord has for us in the Sacred Heart.

(Pause)

Leader: God of all ages, we praise You for sending Your Spirit into our hearts to teach us to pray. Bless + these images / statues of Your beloved Son, and teach us to use it as an aid to sincere and devoted prayer.

May we imitate His love for You, and show that love forth in our daily lives. Help us to continue to grow in prayer and be pleasing to You all the days of our lives. All praise and glory are Yours, God of love and compassion, through Christ our Lord, in the unity of the Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART

Leader: Let us consecrate our lives to His Most Sacred Heart.

(Invite all to kneel and pause for silent prayer)

Leader: Most Holy Heart of Jesus, we choose to give You our entire love.

Be our protection in life, our promise of eternal salvation.

Be our strength in our weakness and wavering.

Be the atonement for all the sins of our life.

All: O Heart of meekness and goodness, be our refuge when we die.

Leader: Be our justification before God.

Turn away from us the punishments of His just anger.

All: Heart of Love, we trust in You completely.

When we consider our wickedness, we fear everything;

when we ponder your love we hope for all things.

Leader: Cleanse us from all that displeases or opposes You.

Imprint Your pure love on our hearts so deeply

that we never forget You,

that we never again separate ourselves from You.

All: Lord and saviour, by Your all embracing love

we beg You to inscribe our names so deeply in Your Most holy Heart.

Let it be our joy and glory, to live and act in Your service.

Leader: God is indeed my Saviour; I am confident and not afraid.

My strength and my courage is the Lord,

for He has been my Saviour.

All: We consecrate our hearts and minds to You.

May we be ever faithful to Your Gospel

and witnesses to Your Divine Love

in service to our brothers and sisters. Amen

Leader: Jesus, gentle and humble of heart.

All: Touch our hearts and make them like Your own.

Leader: Praise to the Sacred Heart, whose love gained our salvation.

All: Glory and honour be His for ever and ever. A men.
