To Teach our students Roman Catholic values in an environment of academic excellence.
February 9, 2026
All 3 of these class leaders are allowed to bring a show-n-tell each day of this week.
Report card testing will continue this week. Remember, we want the students to do their best on the report card/observation tests, but the skills are not all expected to be "mastered" until they are taught by the end of the year. There are several Math topics that will not be studied until later in this period, like subtracting and measuring. We are also just beginning to focus on Mommy E or long vowel sounds in words, and diving deeper into reading and writing skills. At this point though, they should be able to say their prayers, master identification of letters and their sounds, know the 1st and 2nd period sight words, identify rhyming words and be able to supply rhyming pairs, count syllables, and identify and blend beginning, middle, and ending sounds. They should also be able to count to 100, count backwards from 20, identify numbers, compare numbers, and understand basic addition and subtraction within 10. These skills need to be practiced, and should be easy for your child to supply answers for or show knowledge of.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mahtook
P.S. Here is a link to a song that the kids love that practices counting to 100!
