Wow!I cannot believe we have already been in school for a month! The students have learned so much about our class routines and are doing amazing with our new Math series and learning all their letters and sounds!! We will be focusing on rhyming sounds and segmenting sounds in words for a couple of weeks, along with continuing letter sounds review, then we will begin formally introducing the sight words in class. I hope I did not confuse anyone by sending home the word list early! That was just for you to have if you wanted to be "in the know" and possibly get ahead by making sight word cards. If you have been practicing them at home, it will not hurt, but it is ok that they do not know them yet! We have been working on color words in class for their morning work, which I am sure you notice in their Wednesday stapled papers!

We were very proud of the neat homework that came back in the folders each night last week! Letter homework will continue this week; capital and lowercase of one letter in the same night. The purpose of going through the letters at this pace is to prepare them for reading sight words and writing with correct strokes. Please make sure they are taking their time, and completing it neatly! Continue reminding them to hold their pencil correctly and keep their middle finger UNDER the pencil, and make sure their homework is done in pencil! If they are having trouble with the way they are holding the pencil, please let me know and I will send a pencil gripper home for them to use. This is what we use in class to train them to hold pencils correctly. Please continue returning the letter handwriting pages every morning in the return side of the folder. Please make sure they write their names on their homework sheet, and write their name using lowercase letters and the first letter.

P.S. We did not include cleaning supplies on the Kindergarten supply list because we try to use anything left over from the year before, then replenish as needed! With that being said, we are asking the boys to send in a large container of Lysol or Clorox wipes and the girls to send a box of Kleenex and a roll of paper towel at this time. Thank you! As this round of supplies begin to diminish we will flip flop the requests and may need hand sanitizer!!

We will go to the Pumpkin Patch on October 26th from 9:30-11:30.
Students will be able to wear Halloween themed shirts with uniform bottoms.

If you are cleaning out toy chests or closets, or have extra toys from drive-thru meals that are unwanted, please send them to our class for our treasure chest!

We have had several students that have forgotten last week and we are running low on our "extras."
Beginning this week we will send an "OOPS" card each time a snack is supplied.
If you receive this bright green reminder, please kindly send 2 snacks the following day with your child. One to replace what we gave them, and one for their snack that day!

Kindergarten Fall reading assessment dates are :
Tuesday, November 3rd and Wednesday, November 4th.
Your child will stay home on one of these days.
