TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

The ‘Green Warriors’ of the Cathedral and John Connon Middle School planted fruit tree saplings at a garden plot in Chembur East on Sunday, 10th October 2021. 454 fruit trees were planted as an extension of the Middle School Project, ‘The World on My Plate’ which was centered around the topic of food. Indigenous fruit trees are the perfect sustainable food resource that our city Mumbai needs, as they cater to both environmental and hunger issues simultaneously. The Middle School children cheerfully nurtured their saplings at home for a period of two weeks and then planted their saplings in the Chembur plot using the Miyawaki method.

We are grateful to the BMC for the allotment of a well chosen plot and Mrs Jignasa Shah for the smooth organisation of this drive.
