Backpack Program-The Corner Table:

The Backpack Program serves children in thirty four local schools who face hunger on the weekends in Catawba County. Each week of the school year over 1,200 children receive a bag full of food.  The Backpack Program is in existence because of the community's constant support in the form of volunteers and donors giving their time, talent, and treasures.  The program is led by volunteers and is completely reliant on the generous hearts of local donors. Permission forms were sent home here at Startown on Monday August 29 or Tuesday August 30th. Please fill the form out and send it back to school by Tuesday September 6. Food bags will be coming home hopefully the week of September 12.  We send our bags home each Friday.  And If you would rather fill out the online permission form, you may do that as well.  The Corner Table also has fresh frozen cooked meals available for pick-up at their community kitchen each day.  This is a fantastic community service and they serve up super yummy meals so please consider this outreach.
