Mrs. Jodi Hutto

My name is Jodi Hutto and I'm the Counselor at Startown Elementary School. I am a graduate of Montreat College attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Outdoor Education and I completed my Master of Arts in Community Counseling with a School Licensure from Lenoir-Rhyne University. My husband and I have 6 beautiful children, 2 grandbaby's and we enjoy spending time with family, friends and participating in anything sports related. I have an immense love for the outdoors and education is a light in my life. I begin my 20th year of service with Hickory City and Catawba County Schools and I LOVE being here at Startown Elementary!

I am so excited to work with your children, support your family, our faculty, staff and community. My goals at Startown is assisting children to be their very best academically, socially/emotionally, and developmentally while promoting a comprehensive school counseling program. I love counseling students individually, in a small/large group setting and visiting classrooms in order to build positive relationships through character education and social/emotional learning. I’m a firm believer in recognizing that no matter where we come from or what type of challenges we face, we all have the choice and ability to rise up, make wise decisions and do better for ourselves. Taking personal responsibility for our actions while promoting a positive attitude is important to me.
