Student Activities

Small Groups

Here are some small groups that are being offered throughout the year for any students.

Diamonds & Pearls: D&P is an all girls group designed to build self-esteem and self-confidence. We will meet a total of 8 time for 30 - 40 mins and address different issues such as confidence. We work as a group to help support each other and build friendships that can facilitate a positive atmosphere.

Kidz on the Block: is a social skills group addressing building relationships and learning different communication skills to help when interacting with others. This group will also address different social situations and will work on how to best handle those situations.

Many times, the groups may be split into all girls or all boys depending on the amount of students I have who are interested in the group.

  • Boyz on the Block: all boys social skills group
  • Gurlz on the Block: all girls social skills group

We Stand Together: WST is a small group designed to bring awareness to kids being mean, rude, or disrespectful to each other. We address topics on how to bring positivity into the school and how to be friends with another. The group also address topics such as bullying and gives tips and skills on how to handle situations when dealing with others.

Lunch Bunch: Lunch Bunch is designed to give students that extra bit of something special where they eat lunch with a small group of their peers and Mrs. Lee. This a time where students can be themselves and while enjoying the company of others--which will encourage social skills and relationship building.

Classroom Guidance

Catawba County has a monthly Character Education Program, and many of the guidance lesson is based on the character trait of the month. I also do other topics in the classroom as well.

Students of the Month

Students of the Month are recognized each month on our website and on our Student of the Month Board. They have the opportunity to participate in walking through hall way as the rest of the student body cheer them. Along with a certificate, students will also receive a coupon for a free meal at Texas Roadhouse.

Here at Blackburn, we also recognize Bus Riders of the Month and Certified and Classified staff of the month.
