What an incredible honor for 8 Bandys High School chorus students to be invited to participate in Appalachia Sings! A Bluegrass and Choral Spectacular in Asheville! Please join me in celebrating:
Addy S. ~ Ari M. ~ Zoey A. ~ Bailey P. ~ Brody A. ~ Vaughn B. ~ Jaxon C. ~ John I.
This special event brought together high school and college singers from across the Appalachian region to celebrate the rich musical heritage of our region through collaboration, community, and the power of music. Our students had the opportunity to meet and sing alongside students from other schools, build new musical connections, and be part of something much bigger than any one school or ensemble.
One of the highlights of this experience was the opportunity to work with Jake Runestad, a world-renowned, GRAMMY®-winning and GRAMMY®-nominated composer, who led the mass choir of singers. What a meaningful opportunity for our students to learn from a composer of his caliber and experience music-making on such a large scale!
I am incredibly proud of these students for representing Bandys High School and embracing this opportunity. Experiences like these remind us that music reaches beyond the walls of our classrooms, bringing people together through a shared love of singing.
Thank you to the organizers of Appalachia Sings! for inviting our students to be part of such a memorable evening. We are grateful to have been included in this celebration of music, heritage, and community!
The Mixed Choir and Concert Choir students have worked tirelessly throughout the 2025–2026 school year to grow as musicians, performers, and leaders. Through concerts, rehearsals, and daily collaboration, these singers have shown dedication, perseverance, and a passion for choral music. We are proud to recognize their achievements and celebrate the positive impact they have made on our choral program. Their commitment and enthusiasm have helped create a strong tradition of excellence, and we congratulate each student on a fantastic year.
