BUILD YOUR CAR YOUR WAY!

Unleash your imagination by crafting you car from any materials you like — as long as your car fits on the track.

Whether you’re folding cardboard, carving a classic wood block, or sticking carrot wheels onto a zucchini frame, the possibilities are endless.

Remember, the instructions below can help you get started, However, feel free to be creative and explore your own unique designs!

FIRST, GATHER MATERIALS

A cart with Derby supplies will be available on Floor 2: Collaboration starting February 16th. The cart will have Basswood car blanks, assorted hardware, accessories, decoration supplies etc.

CAR TRACK DIMENSIONS

Your only design constraint is the width of your axles:* space them 1-¾ - 2 inches apart to ensure cars fit on our custom-built 40-foot tracks.

Also keep in mind the width of the wheels as you determine the best spacing width of the axles.

WHEEL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Wheel Axle

An axle is a rod or pole connecting the wheels along their center points. In the example above we combine:

Machine screw
Washer
Fastener/Nut
Straw section (cut to 1.5 inches)
Fastener/Nut
Washer
Fastener/Nut

After assembling, remember to tighten the nuts on both washers so they do not spin!
