There are some circumstances where taking EBME 701 in the summer may be advantageous for budgeting purposes (e.g., you are currently covered by a grant or fellowship, and would like to "buy down" some of the required research credits); Or, perhaps you are trying to graduate by the end of the summer, and therefore need to complete your remaining EBME 701 credits. For most all other situations, it makes more sense to enroll in RSCH 750 as a zero-credit course.
This should be discussed with graduate studies on a case-by-case basis, as the answers can be nuanced and potentially change, especially if the student is on a training grant or fellowship. For some cases, the student may need to take a leave of absence from the program, in which case, they will not need to take EBME 701. In other cases, the student may be able to continue to work on their thesis while on internship, and therefore continue to be enrolled in e.g., 1 credit of EBME 701. This should be assessed on a case by case basis and invovle the faculty advisor, student, and GEC + graduate studies.
This is under discussion with the GEC; Presently, there is not an established model within BME for this and would be discussed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account any active research funding, fellowhips, stipend and tuition reductions received from CSE.
Please upload your forms to Canvas when a new assignment becomes available; the strike will be removed during the next review cycle.
This due to the method in which we "accumulate" strikes. One is given each semester; while the other column is used for accumulating the total.
