About the Facility

The Elizabeth A. Rich Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Facility supports approved research activities for the Case Western Reserve University research community, as well as external investigators working under formally established collaborations with CWRU-affiliated Principal Investigators. The facility provides a secure, controlled environment for research involving Risk Group 3 (RG3) pathogens, which may cause serious or potentially lethal disease and can be transmitted via aerosols.
