In several recent professional development workshops, CASDA has utilized fictionalized case studies or scenarios to explore a number of topics. These resources are typically employed with either case-specific inquiries or more generalized protocols to help practitioners analyze familiar situations with the goal of identifying more empowering, student-centered and humanizing approaches to their work. In this edition of CASDA's newsletter, we are including a sample scenario that explores dynamics between teachers, teaching assistants, and students. It seeks to highlight how teaching assistants and paraprofessionals living in their school communities can utilize their connection to their community to develop supportive relationships with students.
If you would like to discuss how CASDA can provide professional development such as this for your district, please contact CASDA Executive Director Michael M. Piccrillo, Ed.D at mpiccirillo@casdany.org.
