2023 Principal of the Year
The Greater Capital Region Principals' Center & CASDA are now accepting nominations for the 2023 Principal of the Year Award. Nominating a principal from your district is an opportunity for you to recognize exemplary leadership qualities that have been highlighted by the challenges facing districts over the last few years. Principals have embraced the opportunity to innovate, develop creative approaches to problem solving, and expand their roles both inside the school building and out into their school communities. By submitting a nomination, you will honor a worthy principal that has made a significant difference in the lives of their students.
2023 Friends of Education
Strong school communities benefit immeasurably from the contributions of staff members, community members and parents who support your schools and offer opportunities for enrichment beyond the classroom. To acknowledge the important work of these individuals, CASDA established the Friends of Education Award to recognize individuals whose selfless dedication supports and sustains the school community. In the past, awards have been given to individuals in recognition of the wide array contributions they have made to their school, students and community. Recipients have included an individual who organized food backpack programs to address student hunger, dedicated volunteers involved with after school reading programs and a facilities director who worked with students to implement gender neutral bathrooms, to describe a few. While these efforts may not be reported on a state school report card, they enrich the lives of students and reflect education’s highest ideals.
We hope that you will nominate a special individual from your district and join us in celebrating our region’s Friends of Education. Any nominee named by a superintendent of a CASDA member district will receive the award this year.
Excellence in District Administrative Leadership
Given the unique challenges the past few years have brought, now more than ever district leaders show how profound an impact on school culture and student achievement they can have. Strong, consistent leadership empowers faculty to meet the needs of learners and facilitates meaningful relationships with the community. Any nominee named by a superintendent of a CASDA member district will receive the award this year.
Excellence in School Board Service
School Boards serve a vital function in ensuring that the students of their community are afforded a quality education and opportunities for enrichment. Whether advocating to pass a budget or ensuring that the healthy and safety of students and teachers is a priority, a strong board member is a valuable voice for all. Any nominee named by a superintendent of a CASDA member district will receive the award this year.
