One of the privileges of being a senior is the opportunity to claim and paint a parking spot. You can find all the information about that in this document. Forms may be submitted anytime after 7:55am on Friday, May 16. Selecting spots is on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $20, and students need to supply their own paint. Painting may take place between June 1 and August 3. If you read over the document and have any questions, please let us know.
Traditionally CAI Seniors have worked a bake sale and planned the EVENT for middle school & high school students. The EVENT is not only a fun battle between the classes but it's a fantastic way to earn funds for the senior trip. Proceeds go directly to the senior trip fund.
The senior class will be attending our annual Senior Retreat to Country Lake Christian Retreat Center in August. This retreat is designed for your student and their classmates to bond as a group as well as to explore a closer walk with the Lord. Time will be spent in chapels, goal setting and many team-building activities. This is a two day overnight trip.
We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for our junior and senior guys! The Warrior Way is a mentoring and leadership program led by Lt. Col. Micah Porter. Micah is a former Top Gun pilot, a parent of five students at CAI, and member of the Christian Academy School Board. Over the past three years, he has assembled a group of men who are interested in pouring into some of our young men at school. These mentors are men of faith with a variety of personalities, backgrounds, and experiences ranging from the military, finance, sports, Christian ministry, politics, business, real estate, law enforcement and more.
Micah met with the students after chapel today to discuss the program. I’ve attached the application that was distributed to the students for you to look over to see what the program is all about. Please note there is a line for a parent signature. Depending on the interest level of the students, they may not be able to admit everyone into the program. Preference will be given to seniors since they plan to do this program each year for the foreseeable future. Extra applications are available at the front desk. Applications are due to the school office by 8:15am on Friday, August 29.
The main points of The Warrior Way are purpose, vision, mentorship, process, discipline, and passion. Each of these will be discussed from a biblical perspective. The students will meet in the school library during lunch once a month to hear from successful men about each of these topics. They will also meet at least once a month on campus with their assigned mentors during lunch.
This program is completely free, and there are no strings attached. The goal is to help these students grow into what a successful Christian man looks like. I am grateful for Micah and the other mentors who have answered God’s call to pour into the next generation! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Micah Porter at 812-207-3360 or micah.porter@theargonautgroupllc.com with your questions.
Seniors now have the option of whether or not to help with the Coffee Shop in the morning. There is no academic grade attached to working in the Olive Branch. The profits from the Coffee Shop will be split evenly between the seniors who work. Based on previous years, students earn around $7 per shift toward Senior Trip. Shifts go from 7:30-8:15 on a weekly basis. There are three workers per shift. You will probably work about 1 shift per quarter.
As a senior privilege at CAI, we allow seniors to leave campus several times per school year to eat lunch at a nearby restaurant. Here are a few reminders and notes:
Permission slips are due by Monday, the week of the Senior Lunch, by the end of the day. No exceptions. If we do not have a permission slip, they cannot leave campus for the off-campus lunch. We cannot accept phone calls or emails – we must have a hard copy of the permission slip with a parent/guardian signature!
Please talk with your child about where they will be going and how they will get there.
Seniors will be dismissed at 12:30pm and will sign out at the office; they must sign back in before 1:30pm. If they are late for any reason, they will not be eligible for the next senior off-campus lunch.
No reckless driving on or off campus! We want calls from the community with compliments about our students and not complaints. The students should plan accordingly, where they are going and the amount of time it will take to get there, order, eat, and return.
Seniors may wear jeans and a CAI approved spirit shirt to school on those dates.
As most of you know, there is a service hour requirement for graduation at CAI. These hours can be done at church, on mission trips, in the community, or for different ministries during your high school years. The main idea is that you are helping others and not getting paid for it. (Please see the handbook for more details.) I'm sure many of you have several hours completed that you just need to turn in. You will find the Service Hours Form here. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Wilson.
In order to be eligible for the off-campus lunch on the designated dates, you must have the following number of service hours turned in. Students who transfer to CAI part way through their HS career will be expected to complete a total number of hours which equals 15 hours for each year they attend Christian Academy. Please see the handbook for more details.
