The Comet Battalion Physical Fitness Team competes in a fall season league with the Marine JROTC program from Mexico Academy and Navy JROTC programs from Utica-Proctor HS and the Western NY Maritime Academy from Buffalo. We also compete in the spring once a year in the Carrier Dome on the campus of Syracuse University with numerous JROTC programs in upstate NY. Cadets compete in events like push-ups, curl-ups, pull ups, flexed arm hang and a relay run.
The goal of the team is to improve cadet strength and endurance and to build confidence and self esteem.
Color Guard Teams
Our Ceremonial Color Guard Team presents, posts and retires the Colors at approximately 25 school and community events each year. Examples include school athletic events, local parades and ceremonies.
Our Competition Color Guard Teams competes against other JROTC color guard teams in a challenging color guard marching routine at drill meets.
The Comet Battalion Drill Team practices diligently to perfect marching routines for numerous elements. These elements then compete against other JROTC programs at drill meets.
The goal of the team is to provide cadets structure, teamwork, discipline and a sense of unity.
The Comet Battalion Marksmanship Team trains at the indoor range on Fort Drum during the winter months.. We compete in postal competitions against other JROTC programs in the Northeast.
Each year our JLAB Academic and Leadership Teams compete in online competitions against the other 1,700 JROTC program in the country.
Our goal is to finish in the top 40 to earn a trip to Washington DC to compete for the national championship. In 2018, our Leadership Team did just that and ended up finishing 7th in the country!!
The Comet Battalion Archery Team is dedicated to becoming perfect marksmen. Utilizing our archery equipment and the auxiliary gym, our team practices during classes and from 3-5 pm starting in January. Once a year, we compete with teams from all over New York. The upcoming 2024 competition will be our first.
