Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) are an integral part of agriculture education. Every student is required to have a SAE. There are many types of SAE's that a students can choose from. We at Carson High have each student start with a Career Exploration SAE to help our students plan for their future.
In Career Exploration, students will take a career interest survey as well as look at different colleges and trade schools that they might be interested in attending.
After students have explored different careers, we help our students choose a second SAE that either aligns with their career interests or something that they already do.
If you want to see some examples of SAE's please click here to watch these videos.
Students will be using an online record keeping system called The AET. The School ID is NV0034. Each student has a unique username and password that they receive from their teacher when they set up their accounts in class.
Some of you might be interested in raising and showing a livestock animal for your SAE. There are three shows that are annually held (described below) and multiple jackpot shows that you could participate in. Before you make the decision to show an animal, please check to see if your property is zoned for livestock animals. If your property is not zoned for livestock animals but you are still interested in raising an animals, please let your advisors know so we can help you find a facility for your project.
Everyone who is showing an animal needs to annually take the Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. There are some opportunities for an in-person training so please listen to announcements that will be made in class. If you are wanting to take the online course please click here for the website (yqcaprogram.org). When you complete your course please print out your certificate and keep a copy for your records.
Please be aware that each show may require a different amount of YQCA credits. Please read through the rule books to ensure that you are taking the proper course.
