Carrollton High School Summer Reading

Carrollton High School is excited to continue our Summer Reading Program for all AP and IB students in the 2019-20 school year.

The goal of the program is to foster a love of reading and raise achievement in literacy in all areas of study. Research shows that students who read regularly receive higher tests scores compared to those who do not, and consistent reading is proven to be an effective means of preparing for standardized tests such as the Milestone, SLO, SAT, ACT, AP and IB exams. Independent reading increases student ability in comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and writing, which are integral components of effective communication and college and career readiness.

Based on his or her 2019-2020 English course enrollment, your child will be responsible for completing an assigned reading and set of activities that will tie in to the coursework for the semester. The details for each course were distributed at school, however this information is also available on the course tabs above.

We are excited to continue the tradition of academic excellence at Carrollton High School by encouraging all students to read regularly and enthusiastically!
