Fair Exhibits
Exhibiting projects at fairs is a great opportunity for FFA members during and after high school. Carroll Area FFA members may exhibit at county fairs, the Iowa State Fair, and other local or national shows. Students may show in FFA and/or 4-H until the summer after graduation; after that, 4-H eligibility ends, but FFA members may continue showing at select fairs until their FFA eligibility expires. Projects are typically classified as livestock or non-livestock. Students interested in exhibiting should review fairbooks through the appropriate extension websites and consult their chapter advisor for guidance.
Carroll County Fair is held in Coon Rapids in the second week of July. FFA members can exhibit projects in beef, goats, poultry, rabbits, sheep, static, and swine. Livestock nominations (excluding rabbits) are due May 15, and entries are due in early June. Rabbit entries are due in late June. Static entries are due July 1.
Crawford County Fair is held in Denison in the last week of July. FFA members can exhibit projects in beef, dairy, goats, horses, poultry, rabbits, sheep, static, and swine. Livestock nominations are due May 15, and all county fair entries are due July 1.
Iowa State Fair is held in Des Moines in mid-August. FFA members can exhibit projects in agricultural mechanics, beef, dairy cattle, dairy goats, farm crops, floriculture, horses, horticulture, meat goats, photography, poultry, rabbits, sheep, and swine. Livestock nominations (excluding poultry and rabbits) are due May 15, and entries for all state fair entries are due July 1.
