Whether you are a student, parent/guardian, administrator, or other visitor, you are welcome here!
This site contains information about Mr. Roberts's Reading Focus class at Carroll County Middle School. I hope you find what you need. If you do not, please let me know!
My goal as a teacher is to maintain a safe, fun classroom environment where students can learn and grow. I also want students to be able to interact with me and with other students in a way that facilitates their learning and social-emotional growth. Finally, I want students to be able to quickly and efficiently get what they need for class so that they can learn all that they can during the short time that we have together this year.
My Reading Focus class is designed to help students improve their reading level, their writing skills, and their word knowledge. To do that, students participate in three literacy stations each day: direct instruction, i-Ready, and independent reading.
During direct instruction (also called “small group”), students receive direct instruction from the teacher as well as complete tasks individually and/or in small groups that focus on specific topics and skills in language arts.
During i-Ready, students utilize the i-Ready software to improve their comprehension, grammar, and word study skills.
During independent reading, students read books independently as well as find books that are a good fit for them.
