Intro to Woods & Metals: See Class Outline Here
Explore the language of makers and builders as you learn to communicate with mechanical drawings. You will then use this new skill to design an introductory woodworking project that you will build with basic hand tools and machines. Once you have developed basic skills you will build a small piece of furniture using more advanced machinery and techniques. Have you ever wondered how items are made out of metal? After completing your wood project, you will transition to the metal shop where you will learn: welding and brazing, sheet metal work, ornamental ironwork, hand forging and more. Several small projects will be made.
Machining and Fabrication: See Class Outline Here
In this class you will learn to use several different methods of joining steel: stick welding, MIG welding and threading. You will also learn machining practices on a metal lathe and milling machine. Several small to large projects will be made with the skills learned in this class.
