Modern World Studies and Honors Modern World Studies cover world history, with a focus on European history, from the Black Plague (1300s) to the end of World War II (1945). This course deals with changes in religion, economics, politics, art, and science and how these changes came about and their impact on humanity and its understanding of the world. This course also deals heavily with the interactions between different countries, cultures and continents and how those interactions impacted all of those involved. Students will learn where our modern political and economic institutions/systems came from and how they compare to those of the past.

Honors US History I covers the history of this country from colonization through the Civil War. Broadly this course covers how this country was founded, how the government was formed and how it changed over time, the economic evolution of different regions, the cultural differences between regions that developed over time, the evolution of politics in this country, the constitution and its core principles, changes in foreign policy, the issue of slavery, westward expansion, and the history of the native tribes that lived here before, during and after colonization.
AP Human Geography: See Syllabus Here
AP Human Geography is a 2 semester college level course designed to introduce students to the systems and processes used to explain the interactions of humans with the planet. Students will learn how to view the world, societies, and their various interactions spatially, using the multiple tools of geographers. The main topics outlined by the College Board are: geographic concepts, population, cultural patterns and processes, political geography, agricultural geography, economic geography, urban geography, and industrial and economic development. Students will acquire this knowledge and various skills through lecture, reading, case studies, and internet research. (college credit possible)
