About Mr. Langlois
...and his classroom
...and his classroom
This is probably my favorite part of my classroom because it is full of things that students have given me over the years and mementos I have collected while teaching here. It is a constant reminder to why I love teaching and why I love teaching at Carrabec High School.
This is my classroom. You might notice there is a lot of art work. Some of it is there to make my class a more comfortable place for my students and myself, but most of it is art created by students and given to me over the years. Every student who has something they are proud of and want to display is welcome to put it up in my class.
You might also notice the wall of college pennants. I have collected those over the years from students who graduated, colleges we have visited on tours, and of course, the colleges that I once called home. I know not every student will or should go to college but I like to remind them that planning for a future beyond high school is a good idea. I'm also proud of the places our graduates have gone and like to show it off.
This is me, Mr. Langlois.
<--------------------------
While I was born in North Carolina, I was raised and lived most of my life in suburban New Jersey (quite a different experience than living and working in rural Maine). I have had a passion for both history and government and politics for as long as I can remember (probably because my dad also had that passion). This passion led me to enroll at the University of Maryland, College Park, take part in its Honors History Program, and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in American History. After that, I obtained a graduate degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Monmouth University in New Jersey. (the main campus building there used to be President Woodrow Wilson’s summer home!)
I first came to work for Carrabec High School in 2010 as an SAT Prep specialist and Gearup liaison, but switched to teaching ninth grade social studies half way through that year. I currently teach Modern World Studies, Honors World Studies, Honors US History I, and Ap Human Geography. I am also advisor to both the government club (which participates in the Maine Youth and Government program…a mock state legislature) and Student Council, as well as being co-advisor to the Carrabec National Honor Society. Outside of this, I am also a member of the district Steering Committee, the high school teacher leadership team, and I was an active member of our College Access team.
