Graham Fletcher

Graham Fletcher has served in education as a classroom teacher, math instructional lead, and currently as a math specialist. His work with the math progressions and problem-based lessons has led him to present throughout North America and beyond.

Graham is continually advocating for best practice in elementary mathematics by seeking new and innovative ways to support students and teachers in their development of conceptual understanding. He is the author of Building Fact Fluency: A Toolkit for Addition and Subtraction.

Afreeka Miller

Director of Professional Learning

Afreeka Miller serves as the Director of Professional Learning for Carnegie Learning, Inc. She has 20 years of experience in education and 9 of those years has been with Carnegie Learning. Afreeka holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Urban Education. Her career began in Texas as a high school mathematics teacher in January 2000. Since then, she has had the privilege to teach at her high school alma mater and support districts across the nation. Afreeka sincerely believes ALL students are able to achieve success in mathematics.

Sarah Galasso

Content Design Associate

Sarah Galasso began her career teaching secondary mathematics in Anaheim, CA. Sarah’s passion for math education and supporting diverse learners led her to an opportunity with the University of CA, Irvine, providing professional development and supporting local school districts as they developed K–12 standards-aligned math curricula. She also partnered with Student Achievement Partners to review instructional materials and write a series of blog posts on the Standards for Mathematical Practice for AchievetheCore.org. Now, as a member of the Carnegie Learning team, Sarah works with educators across the western U.S. to help them bring maths to life for their students.

Molly Daley

Math Coordinator, ESD 112

Molly Daley is a Regional Mathematics Coordinator at ESD 112 in Vancouver, WA. She started the Math Anywhere! project to help children and their grown-ups experience the creative and playful side of mathematics. As soon as she learned there was more to math than the rules she memorized in school, Molly was hooked. She believes math is expansive and she likes helping people recognize their own mathematical connection.

Kristin Lesseig

Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at Washington State University Vancouver

After teaching middle and high school for over 10 years, Kristin now works across K-12 mathematics teacher preparation. Her focus is on supporting both preservice and practicing teachers in their efforts to engage all students in mathematical reasoning and to view instruction through an equity lens

Kasey Bratcher

Vice President of Professional Learning

Before joining Carnegie Learning full time in 2011, Kasey taught middle and high school mathematics for eight years and served as a Mathematics Consultant and coach for the largest Educational Cooperative in Kentucky. As VP of Professional Learning, Kasey is responsible for ensuring and expanding the superb work of our Professional Development staff in schools and districts across the country, from design to implementation to evaluation.



Andy Boyd

Regional Mathematics Coordinator and Science Specialist at

North Central Educational Services District


Andy is the Regional Mathematics Coordinator and Science Specialist at North Central Educational Services District. He received his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Portland and his PhD in Educational Psychology from Washington State University. His work within the team at NCESD has focused around the development, planning, implementing and revising of instructional shifts in both regional and virtual K-12 classrooms.

Mark Christiano

Manager of School Partnerships

Mark Christiano graduated with a BA in Mathematics with a Secondary Teaching emphasis from California State University, Northridge. After receiving his secondary teaching certificate from California Lutheran University under a Paul Brown teaching scholarship he started his teaching career as a middle school teacher in Santa Maria, California. Mark’s educational travels have allowed him to teach secondary math in some of the most beautiful areas of the country including Maui, South Lake Tahoe and Calabasas, CA. Mark’s first administrative position was as Dean of Students at Saint Anthony School on Maui. This was followed by Mark becoming the Executive Director of Kihei Charter School, also on Maui. For the last 8 year, Mark has been serving as the Head of School of Washington Virtual Academies. Mark is a passionate advocate for high quality STEM education and blended learning.

Mark currently lives in Ridgefield, WA, just north of Portland with his wife Laurie, who also happens to be his HS prom date. Together they enjoy cooking, golfing, hiking, Broadway musicals and visiting Maui. They are blessed with 3 amazing adult sons that all live in the southwest WA area.

Tina Mott

Regional Mathematics Coordinator, ESD 189

Tina Mott - Tina has been in education for 15 years as a middle school math teacher and instructional coach for middle and high school. She has had the opportunity to work in diverse districts in several different states. Tina now serves as the Regional Math Coordinator for NWESD189 in Anacortes, WA providing professional development to support equitable and joyful mathematics learning for students PreK-12.

Hannah Sneed

Manager of School Partnerships

Hannah joined the Carnegie learning Professional Learning team in 2020. Prior to joining Carnegie learning, Hannah worked as a Middle and High School Math teacher, as well as, a Math Specialist in both Tennessee and Indiana. Hannah’s teaching and coaching experience ranges from small special education and rural classrooms to classes to large urban classrooms. She has utilized Carnegie resources in her personal classroom, and supported teachers with their implementations. She is passionate about Math education and impacting student achievement. Hannah resides near Seattle, Washington and is now responsible for managing Carnegie Learning’s school partnerships in the PNW.

Carrie Black

Regional Mathematics Coordinator, ESD 113

Carrie has spent most of her 15 years in education at the middle and high school level. Over the past few years, however, she has expanded her learning and support to PK-HS mathematics. She has supported the shift from face to face learning to virtual learning, engaging teachers in professional development in how to utilize technology to elicit student thinking, connect representations, and encourage discourse in math classrooms.

Albert Madrigal

Manager of School Partnerships

Albert Madrigal believes that Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color come to school with strengths that transform the math classroom. He taught middle school math in the Eastside of San Jose, CA, a vibrant city that was similar to his hometown of Santa Ana, CA. Working at a Title 1 school was not easy, but he used students' strengths, built meaningful relationships, and maintained rigor so that students could collaborate with their peers to engage with mathematics. Then, in the summer of 2018, he chose to join Carnegie Learning to advocate for Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color by supporting teachers in and out of the classroom.



Dawn Sparks

Regional Math Coordinator, ESD 105

Dawn provides professional learning opportunities to administrators, teachers, parents and community members. Prior to her work as RMC, Dawn served as a Math Science Coordinator with the Migrant Education Department. She brings experience over 25 years of experience in the elementary classroom, along with working with adult learners at the state, national and international levels. Her greatest educational achievement was being the 2010 recipient for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.





Debra Kowalkowski

Regional Math Coordinator, ESD 101

An enthusiastic math teacher and learner, Debra coordinates and facilitates math learning for administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and PK-MS students. Her work as a Regional Math Coordinator for NEWESD focuses on supporting educators as they design learning focused on equitable mathematical practices highlighting the beauty of mathematics. After 15 years in the classroom, Debra works to build conceptual understanding of mathematics and lively distance learning for the schools in Eastern Washington she serves.
